PKA wins at 2015 ICSH awards

PKA's sheltered housing and community building at Leighlinbridge has won the 2015 Irish Council for Social Housing's Allianz Community Housing Award in the category of 'Housing for Older People'.

The jury praised the sensitive nature of the design and how the users' needs and comfort were given full priority.

In a statement, Patrick Roche, of the Leighlinbridge Housing Association, has described:

"What has been delivered is undoubtedly aesthetically appropriate to its surroundings, more than that, the houses are practical, warm and foster a feeling of community in the way they are presented. The residents are delighted with their houses as well as the community building, which is proving very popular among them. The whole community is amazed at the positive transformation of the area."

PKA's Liberty House was also highly commended for the 'regeneration' category.
