Cliona Park Phase 3

Appointed by Limerick City and County Council to complete the 3rd phase of development in Cliona Park, PKA provided 18 social housing units in west Moyross as part of a broader regeneration Masterplan for the area, also previously undertaken by PKA.

This phase sought to consolidate a fragmented existing streetscape by connecting ill-defined terraces and cul-de-sacs into the wider existing street network. The form, scale, proportion and materials used in the scheme sought to complement the existing built forms and provide a sense of continuity with the existing terraces.

The scheme includes 8 different unit types including 2- and 3-storey terraced houses; Apartments; A corner duplex unit; And fully accessible, 1-bed ground floor units. Improvement works to shared boundary walls, setbacks and ensuring that all private access routes to existing rear gardens were maintained were critical features to reduce the overall level of disruption to the existing community.

Cliona Park utilised a restrained pallet of traditional materials, combined with uncomplicated and robust detailing to deliver a scheme that is focused on durability and overall quality for both residents and the wider community. PKA places a strong emphasis on developing an architectural language that reduces the need for ongoing and costly maintenance issues for the residents.

Handed over in October 2023, the scheme was designed to fully comply with current NZEB standards and received an A-rated BER.
